Redneck Sledding

*update Daniel is back in Utah! He got a job working for another construction company called Jacobson. Jacobson does lots of work for the church so we are hoping that he will have this job for a while. There will not be as much overtime as we were used to with Flatiron but, he gets paid more per hour and gets vacation time. Also a lot of the jobs they have are in Utah county so he will not have to travel that far. Right now he is working on the campus at BYU.

Last month Mimi and her family moved to Utah. They stayed with us for a couple of weeks until they could find a place. Know they are in a basement apartment in West Jorden. We are hoping that this will be a good move for them and we are excited to have some family a little bit closer. Last weekend Travis and his family came for a visit. Friday night the adults headed out to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. Daniel and I shared a dish - some sort of chicken dish - It was good but I wish we had picked something else!

On Saturday everyone hung out together. First on our trip was sledding. We have a pretty good sledding hill down the street from where we live so we just meet up there. When we first got there, some teenagers were sliding done the hill on an old mattress. When they left I asked them if it was their's and they said no...So what do you do when there is an old mattress lying around with snow skies nailed to the bottom. You pull it up the hill and ride it, with all your kids on it. I think that was the highlight of the visit! The kids had a blast riding down the hill on top the mattress.  Right before we were packing up to leave to go back to my house and have lunch, Ardell came zipping down the hill on a little snowboard we brought and hit the back of his head on a light post. Poor Ardell, the goose egg on the back of his head was huge but we are thinking that he is going to be OK.

After lunch at my house, we packed everyone up and headed to Salt Lake and went to the Natural History Museum. Mimi has a pass and got everyone in. My kids favorite part was the room where there were close to dress up in and a huge water table with sand.

Our next stop was Schells, where we browsed around and looked at the cool stuff they have in their store. It was getting pretty late by then and we could not find anywhere to go eat that was not really crowded so we headed back toward Lehi where Travis and Stacey were staying. We finally decided on JCW's, then said our goodbyes and headed home for the night.

The next day Daniel and Travis spent shooting over near Saratoga Springs.
It was a nice visit and I hope that we can get together more often.
